The Connection Team
The goal of the Homebound Visitation Ministry is to bring encouragement and joy to the ill and elderly of our church and community through prayer, visiting and writing. Anyone can participate in this ministry. There are several opportunities for participation, ranging from prayer team to corresponding by writing to actually visiting the homebound. Contact Kurt Kooiker or Tamara Martin for more information.

OPPORTUNITIES:

The Prayer Team will be involved in praying for those who are being visited and are visiting. Those visiting with the ill / elderly will relay any specific prayer requests back to you, the Prayer Team, likely in the form of eMail. Prayer is a vital part of any ministry.

Regular Visitation involves visiting one or two ill / elderly members of our congregation or community on a regular basis, to be determined by you and the person(s) you are visiting. Our goal as a church is to have at least one visit every one to two months and, if it’s agreeable with the person(s) you are visiting, you are welcome / encouraged to bring your family / kids or be paired with another volunteer from Frontline. You will be reminded of your visit by by the Homebound team on a monthly basis, and provided directions as needed. Your visit will consist of simply sitting and talking with the ill / elderly for 30 to 60 minutes – or as long as you would like!. You can rotate who you visit every few months or continue to see the same person. Please make note of any specific prayer requests or concerns which are brought up during your visit and relay them back to the Homebound Visitation Ministry coordinator or prayer team as appropriate. It is perfectly fine to take little presents or snacks if you want, but certainly not required. The best gifts you can bring are your loving heart and listening ears!

On-Call Visitation involves visiting those who are temporarily ill or injured, whether in the hospital, rehab, assisted living, or their home. When the need arises, information will be passed on to you and then you will make arrangements to meet with the ill / injured.

Corresponding involves mailing cards and/or letters to those who are being visited, to keep them in touch with the church between visits. If there is someone in particular you would like to minister to, please let us know. Otherwise we will provide you with one or two people you can write to every one to two months.
